Honduras is a beautiful and diverse country with a rich Mayan history, and a very friendly population. Much of it is rural, relying on subsistence farming for survival.
Sadly, more than 2/3 of the population lives below the poverty line, and many in extreme poverty. Some of the greatest challenges for the people here are those of illiteracy and malnutrition.
Despite this, the people keep working and struggling to have a better life.
Guatemala, heart of the Mayan tradition, is a small country in central America of 13 million with a high population below the poverty level and a great deal of malnutrition in children, as well as under-supported schools. However, the people are optimistic, hard-working and very friendly.
